I also messed with ignore_codecs without success. I haven't had any performance issues so far with webm, and considering it's all I have right now I'll keep it enabled until I get h.264 working. At this point I'm sure it has something to do with the codecs, which is odd because I haven't run into this issue with h.264 videos before.

To deal with patent problems, neither Firefox nor openSUSE provides H264 codec to support. That is why your fresh new openSUSE installation cannot play video on web pages. Luckily, Packman and VLC repositories have these useful packages. If you installed libav libraries, Firefox can detect your system and use available them to decode MP4/H.264 video.

I have installed a fresh copy of Firefox Developer Edition to have a fresh&clean environment and H.264 didn't work there either, so the issue is somehow related to what has changed in the newest build of Windows and not to Firefox itself. If I'll manage to find a fix for that I'll report back with the solution.

Nov 29, 2012 · Firefox currently supports H.264 playback on any device running Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) and any Samsung device running Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). We have temporarily blocked non-Samsung devices running Ice Cream Sandwich until we can fix or workaround some bugs.
