However Grandpa wanted to use the same type of hoods that the top tank had, requiring a center support to imitate the molded support strap of the 55 gal. He was handy so this was not a problem.

Sep 28, 2014 · All the rocks you see in the picture I had in a 55 sitting on a store bought stand with no center support with no problems. Just protect the bottom of the tank with egg crate and make sure the base rocks are sitting on the egg crate so the fish cant dig under them and they are stable.

Oct 21, 2009 · This is a fish room tank, so it doesn't have to be pretty. One thought I had was to build a double tank stand, and put the broken tank on the bottom. The vertical braces could be used to brace the center of the 55 gallon and hopefully prevent bowing and leakage. Let me know what you think, Jeremy
