    May 17, 2019 · Hello. Is it good idea to use ZFS with 4K sectors if the system is with 512-byte sector HDD and no SSD? I guess some disk space will be lost because of larger sectors but don't know whether small sectors (512) will waste more RAM or other resources.

    I'm wondering: When installing FreeBSD 10.1 to an SSD, does the installer align to 4K and/or recognize it's installing to an SSD and optimize the OS for the SSD? Or, am I much better off doing something like this, where I have to manually partition everything, enable trim and all that?
