Mar 16, 2019 · Hi everybody Im really interested in infiniband, and trying to use 40Gb but i don't want to go out and spend money on these cards only to find out they're not supported in freenas. Could you confirm whether infiniband cards will work on freenas and windows 10, and which are the best to go for...

Also it looks like the main support for infiniband is community support in FreeNAS. Within the community support the main focus is for Mellanox inifiniband cards and there is next to no support for Q-logic. So I went back to my original 10 GbE idea, but if your interested here …

Jan 07, 2020 · But this would mean that FreeNAS only supports 100 GbE, not Infiniband, correct? (Unfortunately, I don’t have the 100 GbE switch, I have the 100 Gbps Infiniband switch and you can’t change the port from IB to ETH on the switch itself, which is an entirely separate issue that I have a gripe with as it pertains to Mellanox.)

Anyway, the drivers for Mellanox Ethernet support (not Infiniband nor IPoIB support though) have just been merged into the official FreeNAS 9.10 and FreeNAS 10 source trees. The FreeNAS 9.10 nightly builds will include it from here on. Aurf, would you be ok to test the nightlies (any time from tomorrow onwards) and report back?

Nov 01, 2018 · RDMA on Napp-it/OmniOS? ... Considering how popular FreeNAS seems to be, it doesn't support iSER - so I might have to switch to Napp-it on OpenIndiana Hipster or OmniOS, since both have support for COMSTAR (which can do RDMA), while FreeBSD does not. ... only Infiniband - and ESXi only support iSer over Ethernet and not over Infiniband ...

Nov 27, 2013 · I have dual 10Gb Top Spin Infiniband cards and a TRX 100 switch with 4 x 10Gb CX4 ports. I just found that out that freebsd's IB support is pretty poor and freenas definitely doesnt support it. Nas4Free might be an option, but doesnt seem like that many people are using IB with it or with freebsd in general.
