Feb 19, 2008 · I have a Q6600 by Intel and i've tried a "tweak" in the FSX.cfg to use all 4 cores, but I don't believe it makes a difference because I have Vista and the monitor on my cores o the sidebar still shows 1 core being used at most times. Is there a way to use all cores?

Aug 18, 2006 · babua,I don't think it's a matter of making the FS series multi-threaded as much as making it multicore. According to the article linked below its more about changing the architecture of game engines to be multi-core or multi cpu aware and make aggressive use of those cores buy logically separating the major components of a game engine and dedicating each of them to one core.

Mar 13, 2013 · FSX can still make good use of hyperthreading for better textureloading and load times. (That's what FSX is designed to use multi core for) But activating HT on a Quad-core allways exposes the risk of thread collissions . The risk of these can once again be reduced a lot by tweaking the affinitymask manually.

The improvement in performance gained by the use of a multi-core processor depends on the APS software algorithm and the fraction of software that is parallized to run on multiple cores simultaneously. For FSX, performance gains from quad core processors and beyond are dependent on what algorytms are included in FSX SP1 and SP2.
