May 22, 2013 · As a partial update, I did figure out how to get FFmpeg to convert them - you have to give it seek parameters. For whatever reason, a start time of 0.000000 (the obvious default) makes FFmpeg not output anything.

Jun 27, 2009 · So I just created a fresh Gentoo Server with the latest portage and ran emerge vlc. Everything seemed to install OK, without any errors, but VLC simply won't play anything! Example, if I run (vlc command alone doesn't work since the server has no gui):

Jan 31, 2010 · Thanks, I did not notice that every problem was with libcdio.so. The dependencies on my system are now fixed. The only problem is, I can't use the latest gstreamer-ugly RPMForge package because it depends upon libcdio.so.
