The module is actually composed by the gt-coverage-api module and several plugins to access multidimensional data such as, NetCDF, Grib and HDF4. All of them leverage on the Unidata NetCDF Java Library 4. (Actually supported formats: NetCDF and GRIB). Note that this page is not an API change proposal. Oct 03, 2016 · This pull request adds support in NetCDF data store for dimensions with multiple bands and it also makes the NetCDF data store aware of the BANDS parameter. The same work was done for the ImageMosaic store A small data set called stations that contains a dimension called data that map to three bands was added. Tests for the multiple band mapping and BANDS parameter were added.

Developer’s Corner: Improved NetCDF/GRIB support on GeoServer. ... In the last years, we have improved the GeoTools library in such a context, by providing a NetCDF plugin based on Unidata NetCDF java library. It is worth to point out that the same library also allows to access GRIB datasets. ... NetCDF4 support requires NetCDF native libs ...

I'm experimenting about netcdf and how to convert them in a feature collection. My primary tool is geotools ver. 17.2.Moving my very first step was to bring these two dependencies:

There is limited support for coordinate variables with two dimensions (see Two-Dimensional Coordinate Variables), as part of the result of an aggregation (such as time, runtime - in the case of a runtime aggregation). Two dimensional non-independent latitude-longitude coordinate variables aren’t currently supported. ... The GeoTools NetCDF ...

Iain, adding new features to GeoTools is a question for the geotools-devel list. A descriptive title is essential to attract attention. Something like: "Support multidimensional NetCDF coordinate variables".

NetCDF / WRF IO support . We need read support for 4D NetCDF files. Each file will have multiple grids, named by constituent. USDAFS . Contours . We need grids to be symbolized by contours. This does not mean that we want to create an intermediate feature then symbolize that. The contours should be generated on the fly from the raster data.
