Dec 07, 2016 · If GParted cannot resize NTFS partition still, try the following fix command: sudo apt-get install ntfsprogs. After these steps, you should be able to resize NTFS partition. Apparently, it is not the best tools for managing partitions formatted with NTFS file system.

sudo apt-get install ntfsprogs. which should give you support for NTFS filesystem in Gparted. Then just open gparted and resize/check the filesystem. This is all assuming that the check with ntfsfix went fine and the check with gparted did also.

Sep 29, 2012 · The copy of the 1 TB NTFS partition was performed in only about 16 minutes by GParted, but it needed 3-4 hours for the 750 GB ext4 partition (both of which are less than 20% full). At the end, GParted said that all tasks had been completed successfully.
