Sep 05, 2011 · I have a 14 bolt out of a 89 suburban, with 454, I bought a used set of 4.56gears and carrier for it. I bolted the pinion in "as is with the old pinion retainer the 4.56 set came with". I noticed I can wiggle the pinion a bit, the play seems to be coming from the pinion support bearing area.
