Mar 11, 2007 · About ----- This is a modified GP2X firmware 2.1.1 kernel with SDHC SD card support for F100 GP2Xs. It also has read-ahead disabled by default, which is better for apps, which do data streaming from SD card. The SDHC code used is exactly the same as in GPH 4.0.0 firmware, which is my code with some enhancements by DJWillis (Open2x).

At current firmware (2.1.1) GP2X does not support the new SDHC format SD cards, which is what most 4Gb or larger (8gb, 32Gb, etc) cards are. Read more about the SD Association's standards at http://www.sdcard.org/ Card Compatibility Firmware 2.0.0 to 2.*.*

Ive just flashed my GP2X-F100 up to firmware 4.0 to get SDHC support and I can report that it DOES WORK with my 4GB generic SDHC card. Though I can only add files through my USB cable as my reader dosent recognise SDHC.

After unpacking the GP2X you should install the screen protector immediately. Carefully remove the shipping film from the GP2X screen by pulling the Red tag on the top right. Now remove the film from the Screen Protector and ensuring there is no dust on the underside of the Screen Protector and on the GP2X screen carefully place it on the GP2X.

The changes from FW 2.1.1 to FW 2.1.2 are mainly a basic implementation of SDHC (High capacity SD cards) support, as well a few bux fixes and clean up of the 2.1.1 release. Not much is know about this FW though, and if you check it's actually not linked at all on the "official" GP2X site (gp2x.com).

Insert your SD card into your GP2X and power on. The firmware upgrade should start automatically now - but for versions 2.0.0 and above you will need to hold START and SELECT while the gp2x boots up. You see the picture shown on the right.
