GRE is not supported on the 3750s. The General Routing Encapsulation (GRE) tunnel is not supported by the Cisco Catalyst 3750 Series Switches. Even though this feature can be configured with CLI, the packets can be neither switched by hardware, nor by software, which increases the CPU utilization.

Hello Gianluca, The catalyst 3750's do not officially support GRE's, which means u can get the commands but there will be no support for this technology... anyway, even if it supports in future, i would not advice you to run it here, since the 3750's have not been designed for this function.. each device has to do what it is supposed to !!! so the cheap and the efficient option is to buy a ...

Apr 06, 2009 · Hi Chris,Both the 3550 and 3560 only support GRE tunnels in software. Now, the documentation indicates that it is not supported altogether, but the CLI does exist, and for very low volume traffic, a GRE tunnel can be configured and will function.Keep in mind that every packet going through the GRE tunnels will be CPU switched, and can lead to high CPU situations.

we are using 3750-X [c3750e-universalk9-mz.150-2.SE9.bin] as core switch and 3850 switch as access layer switch. Because of some reason, we are having 99% CPU utilization on core switch. 99% utilization we are getting every hour on core switch.

Apr 05, 2016 · Up until recently I thought GRE tunnels were only supported on Cisco routers and high-end switch line cards, but after checking the Feature Navigator I found that it's also supported on some low-end switches too!. However, none of the release notes I checked or googling turned up anything about GRE support.

Despite what is stated in the bug tracker <key>CSCuw19798</key> is *not* fixed in IOS-XE 3.6.5E From the release notes on 3.6.5E they don't seem aware they are even affected by this bug.
