Jan 26, 2006 · The problem is, I don't have any mouse or keyboard support. I have disabled USB mouse and keyboard support in the Bios settings and it all boots perfectly. But now I can only boot into one OS as grub does not recognise my keyboard. IS there a way I can compile USB keyboard support into the Grub/Lilo/Windows/Darwin bootloader? Thanks

Sep 10, 2017 · Have you tried adding GRUB_TERMINAL_INPUT="usb_keyboard" and GRUB_PRELOAD_MODULES="usb usb_keyboard ohci uhci ehci" (see note below) in /etc/default/grub and then the command 'grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg' to regenerate grub.cfg? That should add various additional 'insmod' lines in grub.cfg, for those GRUB modules.

Jun 17, 2012 · Re: [SOLVED] Keyboard not responding in Grub If your computer has a ps/2 port (almost 100% likely) you could try to get a usb-to-ps/2 adapter and plug it in the old-fashioned way. USB keyboards can be problematic at times but I've never heard of them "just stop working for grub" without an accompanying change in the BIOS.

If, in spite of the precedent set-up, the BIOS continues refusing to recognise the USB keyboard (e.g. you can't go into the BIOS by pressing the correct key on the USB keyboard) you have a second chance to convince it to.
