Sep 29, 2011 · My Oracle Enterprise Linux will not mount these volumes, returning an error: Unknown filesystem type 'hfsplus'. From my brief searches, the Linux Kernel supports HFSPLUS file systems. Does anyone know how I can enable this support in Oracle Linux 6.1? Thanks, Jeff jeff_at_buturff_dot_net

I have a HFS+ journaled external hard-drive and need to be able to write to it on Ubuntu. I don't have access to my Mac, it's thousands of miles away and I won't have access to it for three months. Can anything be done without losing the data on the HDD?

May 08, 2008 · 1. The 'hfsplus' file system type is read-only under FC6. I have an external firewire (IEEE 1394) drive (use it to back up my servers) that I usually use on my iMac G3 (which is on the blink). I tried hooking up to a firewire-equipped Linux box so I can keep doing my backups onto this drive, and it will only mount the filesystem as read only. Drat!

Again, I should point out that if there is a kernel issue on the system, then support may ask you to try again with a Red Hat binary but it should help with your problem. Please also pay particular attention to the limitations when writing to Journalled HFS+ devices.
