Could be this a problem related to 64bits? I am using Debian sid with linux-image-2.6.24-1-686 and it works for me. Though I have to say some time ago I had a similar problem when I was using 2.6.18 and try update to next versions of kernel and I was some time using 2.6.18 for this reason.

Aug 09, 2019 · The current kernels used on both the linux-arm and linux-arm64 builders do not use VDSO for the time functions. The purpose of this issue is upgrade the kernel so that it uses VDSO on both kinds of systems. It is of course fine to split the issue in two.
