Jan 03, 2011 · ICD2 Support? Has anyone had any luck getting the ICD2 working with MPLAB X and Linux? Any details on the implementation would be great. (I'm running a 32 bit install of Ubuntu 10.10, but I haven't had any luck with ICD2 in MPLAB X).

Apr 07, 2018 · The one important thing you have to know is that you have to have the only ICD2 that supported 64 bit drivers. Only Release 3 and Release 4 (R3/R4, see on the back side of ICD2) support the Windows x64 drivers. The P/N of R4 is 10-00397. The old release (R13,P/N 10-00319) does not support Windows x64 drivers.59%(6.4K)

The older ICD will work on the 16F870 that I started using for this clock, but Microchip is introducing a new ICD2 that will have much more capability but does not support the 16F870. It does however support the 16F873A which is a drop in replacement with much more memory and that helps the ICD.
