Aug 12, 2017 · Intel has updated storage drivers to add support for larger drives. I just see a lot of conflicting reports and no solid confirmation that ICH10R boards will officially work in AHCI mode even when they're updated and running a modern 64bit OS with GPT formatted disks.

Oct 05, 2014 · I just bought a Seagate 4TB drive as need much more storage, but when I swapped out one of the 320GB HD I only see 1.7TB in disk management. Looking on Seagate help pages i found this that says there are issues with older versions of Intel RST Intel Rapid Storage Technology (RST) drivers and Support for Disk Drives Beyond 2.2 TeraBytes (TB)

May 08, 2014 · I updated the F11e beta bios for the GA-EP45-DS3R Rev 1.0 with the following changes: ICH10R southbridge - v13.1.0.2030 8111C ethernet - rtegrom259.lom AHCI-pchahci_1.20E The 4TB WD Red appears to be a conventional SATA drive (non-SSD).

Sep 11, 2013 · Without EUFI boot, an MBR 2TB volume is the max you can use for the OS. With 512B sectors, you can use a drive up to 128PB in size, though, as a non-OS drive.That size support has existed since ATA 100 was implemented, so that should be the lowest limit for any SATA controller (I'm not sure if a newer controller is needed for 4K sectors, which would mean 1EB at 48-bit).
