Even if it is a single SSD ? As far as i have fund out in different Forums it is possible to have a single ssd + raid of any kind on a ICH10R Controller and get trim to work for the single ssd. I don´t neet trim for the raid 0 i have, just for the single ssd drive.

As I want to use SSD as the OS disk while build raid1 using 2 hdds That's why i want to set the SATA controller as RAID mode. However, I'm not sure whether TRIM will work or not under RAID mode as my Mainboard is rather old with ICH10R and intel MSM only but not RST.

Nov 24, 2009 · I'm assuming then if I want TRIM support using a single SSD with two normal hard drives in a raid array, I will have to use AHCI mode on the ICH10r and buy a separate RAID card for the normal hard drives I wish to RAID. Is my understanding correct? Many Thanks!

There is no RAID mode TRIM support on drivers for older chipsets. Intel states that RST support was added for the X79 chipset in RST version 11.6.0.0000 and after. On some 6 series chipsets there is a modification for the ROM in the BIOS, which will allow TRIM support on the 6 series chipset.
