The Intel GMA 3600 series is a family of integrated video adapters based on the PowerVR SGX 545 graphics core. It is used in Intel Cedarview CPUs (Atom D2500, D2550, D2700, N2600 and N2800).. The Linux kernel has support since version 3.5, but since version 4.15 the relevant kernel driver, uvesafb, has not been included in the Archlinux kernel so using the DKMS version of the driver is necessary.

Basic support for GMA3600 (also known as Cedarview) has been available since kernel 3.2, outside of staging (this commit moved the driver out of staging, this commit corrected the name). You only need a recent enough kernel; the graphics support is provided via kernel mode-setting, which Xorg supports natively (using its “modesetting” driver).

Sep 08, 2012 · So is there any news for Intel GMA 3600 (Cedar Trail) support? I'm forced to use windows on my netbook right now because there doesn't seem to be any linux support for it at the moment unless you like shitty performance at 800x600 resolution.

Feb 01, 2018 · Re: Intel PowerVR GMA 3600/3650 linux driver released! yup. as Gusar says - there is no gpu rendering, only cpu rendering. the aborted xf86-video-gma500 project was an attempt to shift the rendering to the gpu, but the developer discovered that this particular gpu renders more slowly than the cpu, rendering the project a waste of time.
