GMA 950 has support for both vertex and pixel shaders. A strange thing about GMA 950 is that in DirectX it supports shaders of version 2.0 while in OpenGL supports shaders of version 1.4; OpenGL shader support is implemented rather badly, and many shader based apps in OpenGL run with problems. DirectX apps seem to run without problems.

I have recently purchased the Inspiron E1405 with Intel GMA 950 graphics and installed and played the Sims 2. It installs perfectly fine and I can actually play it for several days/weeks before having any problems. Whenever the problems do occur, the game freezes, shuts down, and turns my screen into a negative type display.

Can I use the windows 7 driver which is latest till date? or should I go with the default driver selected by windows?

The results are mixed, and mostly based on opinion. So, I thought I would simply add my 2-cents: The Intel GMA 950 in the MacBook does not make for a GREAT game machine, but for the casual gamer, it might be ok.
