Jan 08, 2018 · There is a Red Book called "Introduction to IBM AS/400 SNMP Support. It's from November 1997 however and while it does offer you the information necessary to setup SNMP on the AS/400 it doesn't offer you any practical "current" information on setup for Network Monitoring Tools.

Sep 17, 2019 · Dear Tobias, This depends whether the physical device supports monitoring protocols that PRTG supports. Most common are SNMP, Netflow or WMI. PRTG is also able to monitor various types of servers (Webserver, FTP, DNS, SQL etc), but for actual hardware it would be necessary for the device to support one of the three mentioned "protocols" to be monitored by PRTG.

I have a 3580 on an AS/400 and want to monitor tape status, most importantly, is one actually inserted, using SNMP get. Find a lot of SNMP details on tape libraries, but for a stand alone drive I assume this would have to come from the OS device status.

Jul 05, 2006 · Turns out, the OS/400 implementation of SNMP, as with many things in its TCP stack, is slightly off. Our firewalls were blocking the snmp-replies. Basically, with most devices you send an SNMP-read to port 161 with a source of some random high port, and it will reply with source port 161.
