RFC 5944 IP Mobility Support November 2010 1.Introduction IP version 4 assumes that a node's IP address uniquely identifies the node's point of attachment to the Internet. Therefore, a node must be located on the network indicated by its IP address in order to receive datagrams destined to it; otherwise, datagrams destined to the node would be undeliverable.Cited by: 330

Internet Protocol Mobility Support (Mobile IP) The Internet Protocol (IP) is the most successful network layer protocol in computing due to its many strengths, but it also has some weaknesses, most of which have become more important as networks have evolved over time. Technologies like classless addressing and Network Address Translation combat the exhaustion of the IPv4 address space, while ...

mobile-ip . In our environment we do not need layer 3 roaming, and all AP’s that support a building all terminate to the same controller. We currently do NOT have Mobile IP enabled but we DO have Mobile IP and VLAN Mobility enabled. I don’t think we want either one of these enabled, and am wondering if having these enabled might be a bad idea.

Mobile IP was designed to support seamless and continuous Internet connectivity. Mobile IP is most often found in wired and wireless environments where users need to carry their mobile devices across multiple LAN subnets. Examples of use are in roaming between overlapping wireless systems, e.g., IP over DVB, WLAN, WiMAX and BWA.
