    PCMCIA is, electrically, very much like ISA, and Cardbus is very much like PCI. The PD6729 is a PCMCIA controller that interfaces with the CPU via PCI. The 2.4 Linux kernel handles PCMCIA-to-ISA and Cardbus-to-PCI, but doesn't like PCMCIA-to-PCI. It can be done, using the pcmcia-cs package, but I don't think IPCop uses it.

    Oct 29, 2009 · But, using the information from pingtest.net it seems the problem (when compared to other firewall distros, IPCop is my standard go to at the moment) is IPFire for some reason introduces a lot of latency. For instance using IPCop my worst ping out of the 5 locations I try (the same 5 I try on IPFire) is 59ms, 19ms jitter and no packetloss.
