Mar 31, 2013 · Zilean is a very versatile champ so he can still be a very useful support but if yoiu are taking support as your main play than make sure you learn Solo Lane or carry coz its very hard to progress in Bronze division as a support player.

Jan 07, 2013 · AP supports are much more viable in season three since Kage's Lucky Pick has more options to build into and supports are generally quite a bit richer than they were before, mostly due to Sightstone I think. If Zilean makes a comeback, I would expect to see him support.

If you pick a champion for his utility, you put him as support, not adc. Zilean gains nothing from building AD, why not take a champion who does scale with AD and pair him with Zilean? That way you still have the double bomb stun, the 99% slow and the revive while also having an actually strong damage dealer.

So the reasons Zilean is viable as an AD are: 1) Only one of Zilean's damage abilities benefit from AP 2) Zilean has a slow / haste 3) Zilean's auto-attack range is the same as ashe (600) 4) Even if Zilean was slightly weaker than other ranged ad carries, he makes up for it with the ultimate, which doesn't require AP to do the thing.

Dec 30, 2012 · Zilean is simply not a viable pick as bot lane support, unless you remake him completely. He does not have a good way to protect the AD carry (no heal, shield or hard CC), apart from his ultimate which has a very long cooldown. He also can not perform well without items. Zilean needs AP, since his Q and ult have pretty good scalings.

As support his early game is mostly about the double bomb and having an adc like cait finish off with ult (zil + cait is actually really good at securing an early kill), and rushing the 6 for survivability and turret dives, plus your team will generally outlevel the other team due to his global passive exp boost.

I find also Zilean is one of the only supports who can actually address hecarim super effectively - most others have tools to do this but they're harder to do. That perma slow reduces his damage and his speed to such a point that your adc can now kite him effectively.

Aug 12, 2013 · Zilean was viable in times of Locket, same as Udyr. Now with no locket and many new champions he doesnt have a place anymore. Double bomb? Countered with healer. Haste/slow? Sona and Karma do better. Revive on adc? Aatrox. As a champion that does no dmg in teamfights and have no heal, he is too weak a choice.

Withouth a decent amount of ap, your ult take people back with not enough health (and your damage will be useless after 10 min). I always play him Mid. Easy to farm with bombs, hyperstrongmega early harrass, and if you take 1 kill, you enemy mid will never leave his turr.
