IUPAP supports conferences in two ways, by Sponsorship and by Endorsement. IUPAP Sponsorship is granted to conferences in the final quarter of the year before the year of the conference, and may or may not include limited financial support of the conference.

Experience suggests that IUPAP sponsorship will assist the Conference Organisers in obtaining support from other sources. The financial support provided to sponsored conferences is determined by the total sum budgeted for this purpose and the number of conferences approved for sponsorship. The IUPAP C11 Commission has been a gateway for IUPAP sponsorship for a number of conference series in the area of Particle Physics: ICHEP, Lepton Photon, TIPP, Neutrino and IPAC. The commission has also provided oversight of the ICHEP and Lepton Photon conference series and has been a strong advocate for the TIPP conference series.
