This is the reason why has to be used. This bug is supposedly fixed in Mustang (JDK 6). JGroups, starting from version 2.3, supports IPv6.

So in some of the discussions on this forum, it is suggested to disable the IPv6 by setting Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true which actually works fine..
