Enable JFFS: Before you can really make use of the local DNS or web server functions, you have to enable JFFS2. This will tell you how. Follow it exactly. It’s expected that the base configuration is already complete. Login to the router web page. Click Administration. Look for the “JFFS2 Support” section.

but i have a sdcard mounted /jffs so i would like to use ipkg must be an old option when there was no usb support on old router models. so please unbind ipkg from jffs filesystem

If for some reason you need to erase its content, you can do so from the Administration page, under the System tab. Formatting the JFFS partition requires a reboot to take effect. Note that formatting it might possibly require a second reboot afterwards, if it fails to properly mount after that first reboot.

I am normally using ipkg-opt on my USB disk. /opt is on my USB. ipkg doesn't run because I disabled jffs. It could be modified to run on any /opt Oldest first Newest first Threaded

Alas, the main disadvantage of JFFS is that it prevents the router from being upgraded. In fact, the upgrade procedure must rewrite the whole flash, and the data in JFFS would be destroyed.
