Jan 12, 2012 · The issue is cluster communication is not possible while we use IPv6 is enabled on the nodes. So in some of the discussions on this forum, it is suggested to disable the IPv6 by setting Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true which actually works fine.. For avoiding the above workaround, should we prefix double colons to the mcast_address for the Jgroups configuration.

This is anecdotal (from a customer support case), and we need to verify this in the 2.3/2.4 time frame IPv6 support. Due to a bug in the JDK on Linux, a socket cannot be bound to an IPv6 address. This is the reason why has to be used. This bug is supposedly fixed in Mustang (JDK 6). JGroups, starting from version 2.3, supports IPv6.

Nov 05, 2009 · JGroups runs into this problem, too: whenever we have a bind_addr which is a scoped link-local IPv6 address, certain discovery protocols (e.g. MPING, TCPGOSSIP) will return the scoped addresses, and the joiners will then try to connect to the existing members using the scoped addresses.

Apr 16, 2015 · [the address] defaults to 228.8.8.8 [configurable by] editing the jgroups-udp.xml and adding mcast_addr. Once you know the address and port JGroups should be using, on each node you can verify that it is listening using the "netstat -an" command. You may find your nodes are only binding IPv6.
