You can enable LACP support on an uplink port group for vSphere Distributed Switches 5.1, and for switches upgraded to 5.5 or 6.0 that do not have the enhanced LACP support. Limitations of the LACP Support on a vSphere Distributed Switch The LACP support on a vSphere Distributed Switch lets network devices negotiate automatic bundling of links by sending LACP packets to a peer. However, the LACP support …

Enhanced LACP support on vSphere Distributed Switches in vSphere 5.5 introduces several new features to improve dynamic link aggregation flexibility compared with vSphere 5.1. Enhanced LACP support allows you to connect ESXi hosts to physical switches that use dynamic link aggregation.

The LACP support on a vSphere Distributed Switch 5.5 lets you connect ESXi hosts to physical switches by using dynamic link aggregation. You can create multiple link aggregation groups (LAGs) on a distributed switch to aggregate the bandwidth of physical NICs on ESXi hosts that are connected to LACP port channels.

Jun 27, 2018 · LACP support has been available since vSphere 5.1. LACP allows you to aggregate the bandwidth of multiple physical NICs on a host, a LAG can only be created on a virtual distributed switch. When you create a LAG, it should be the only Active uplink for that portgroup.

LACP support is available since vSphere 5.1 and it helps connecting Esxi hosts to physical switches by using dynamic link aggregation. To aggregate the bandwidth of multiple physical NICs (that are connected to LACP port channels) on a host, LAG is created on vDS and use it to handle the traffic of distributed port groups.
