Sep 14, 2012 · This occurs in all browsers when Flash is playing sound through PulseAudio directly by means of the libflashsupport-pulse package. Oddly enough, maybe 5% of the time, it won't crash and everything is fine. The workaround is to use pulseaudio-alsa and uninstall libflashsupport-pulse. Here is some of my system information:

On my 2 Fedora 8 systems, I have this problem today for the first time. In Firefox, while browsing youtube, my system will crash when opening flv files. Generally, I can view one show, and then when I click another one, the whole browser disappears. It does not lock up at all, it just dies. It does not affect any other programs.

I have the same general, but the details differ. First of all, flash sound works for me (when FF doesn't crash). Then, it religiously crashes on some sites using flash. Emphasis on some. I can access and use YouTube all right, but others cause an immediate crash of XWindow, so that I go back to the kdm/gdm,xdm login screen or to the console.
