Oct 25, 2011 · A length of PVC pipe slipped over the lift support will hold up the hatch. Cut it to the length of the rod. The pipe diameter should be big enough to slide over the gas cylinder for when it is not holding up the hatch. Cut a perpendicular slot 1/3 of the way through the pipe towards one end.
