Starting with Windows 8 and Windows 8.1, the Windows ACPI driver, Acpi.sys, supports the new features in the ACPI 5.0 specification.

From ACPI site: ACPI (Advanced Configuration and Power Interface) is an open industry specification co-developed by Hewlett-Packard, Intel, Microsoft, Phoenix, and Toshiba. ACPI modules are kernel modules for different ACPI parts. They enable special ACPI functions or add information to /proc or /sys.
The code is fairly mature, and implements an AML interpreter, table manager, namespace manager, resource manager, fixed and general purpose event support, and ACPI hardware support. It currently supports the ACPI 5.0 specification. ACPICA is actively maintained and updated.
