"ActiveX" is also used by Internet Explorer itself for things that are not related to webpages, but rather to the browser (for example, the browser's interface). Firefox does not support "ActiveX" because: "ActiveX" is just available on Windows, so pages that use "ActiveX" will not work on Linux or Macintosh, which are both supported by Firefox.
