As far back as 2011, netbsd added that to their kernel: product DISPLAYLINK HPDOCK 0x01d4 HP USB Docking I cannot imagine that it would not be in Linux kernel. … *BSD usually lags Linux by a bit in adding support for hardware. The good news is that newer than 4.4 kernel is unlikely to be needed.
