Sep 04, 2018 · The UGA-2K-A support resolutions up to 2048 x 1152. It comes with a DVI to HDMI adapter should you need it. We also have a USB 3.0 to HDMI adapter that would work on your Macbook Pro (with USB 2.0), but the main advantage is HDMI audio over USB, but this is unfortunately not supported in OS X. So I would recommend the UGA-2K-A.

The problem is that even in this page of Apple's website it seems to be that every "Mid 2012 MacBook Pro" is supposed to have these USB 3.0 ports as it is one of the upgrades from the previous model.. I have been wondering wether if it is a setting or something I'm ignoring or maybe there is a way it can be changed somehow (I really do not think so, as these chips are part of the logic board).
