Oct 29, 2012 · Main bearings arent prone to failure on this engine unless you run it without oil or something. Its not unheard of to have a new vvt fail as soon as the engine starts so the fact that it is new doesnt make a difference.

Remove the manifold, turbo, and stock s and j pipes as a unit. Leave the oil return fitting attached to the main bearing support plate – to accomplish this remove the flexible line at either the turbo or fitting. Remove the s and j pipes from the turbo and also remove the top two turbo to downpipe studs.
