    I know I'm late to the party but if it helps anyone I can confirm 3TB is fine in the MD1000 with either a PERC H800 or if you want to go the ZFS route I'm currently running three MD1000's with 45 3TB drives in a 100TB Volume with no issue connected to an LSI SAS HBA.
