Cue files in windows media player. A relatively large part of my music library is made of .APE or .FLAC lossless files. Usually only one file per CD, with a companion .CUE file with tracks duration and information. I have found some codecs to be able to play .APE and .FLAC (although neither of them support seeking, or even track duration).

What's worse, posts I have read from VLC people not only show a lack of acknowledgment for the importance of cue sheet support, they actually have ridiculed those of us who do think it is important. I alway rip my music CDs twice.
