So these brackets I'm talking about are the other sort of the manual lever brackets that you have if you don't have a power trim tilt on your outboard. IMPORTANT: Do not rely on the power trim/tilt system or tilt support lever to maintain proper ground clearance for trailering. The outboard tilt support lever is not intended to support the outboard for trailering. I think this clearly answers your question. It also shows a clear difference between brands, particularly OMC-Mercury.

Apr 09, 2014 · Best to have a mercury shop manual to accomplish this. If the tilt/trim is leaking anywhere else it's probably time for a shop rebuild. To fill the tilt/trim reservoir raise the motor all the way up and support it with the support lever. Unscrew the fill cap and fill with Merc tilt/trim fluid or ATF.
