Mar 22, 2013 · Had the same problem, scanning stopped working on the MFC-7860dw after an upgrade from Windows 7 64-bit to Windows 8 64-bit. I tried following the directions on the Brother support site for installing the "Windows 8 Built-In Drivers", but no matter what I did, it would not install a scanner driver (which tells me that the scanner driver simply doesn't exist).

Jan 01, 2016 · I believe Microsoft is committed to support MFC for the foreseeable future, but it is pretty much in maintenance mode. So I would not say that MFC has potential; whatever (considerable) potential it had has been realized long ago. 20 years ago when I started learning C++, using MFC for Windows applications was a no-brainer.
