You can continue to use SQl Server 2008 R2 as long as you can, even after support (both mainstream and extended) ends but you should not expect MS to pay you if some disaster happens due to some bug and you face data loss. Dec 17, 2014 · Accordig to the message above, mainstream support of Window 2008 R2 product family will be ended on 13/1/2015, and there is no new service pack released, then 2008 R2 SP1 support will also end on 13/1/2015 since when support for a product ends, support of all the service packs for that product will also end.
