It works by modifying the global_gain fields in the aac samples. Free-form metadata tags are added to the file to save undo information, making the normalization process reversable. aacgain uses the same command-line user interface as mp3gain, and is compatible with the mp3gain Visual Basic GUI.

Hi, Working with Win7 and MP3Gain 1.2.5, just downloaded and installed. Want to stabelize some tracks that do ha to much difference in volume for pleasant listning. Imported tracks in MP3Gain, they were analysed, but after 'Apply track gain' (at 89,0 dB) nothing happend. How to change this so I can enjoy Symphony 9, Beethoven with more pleasure ?
