Mar 22, 2014 · The mpris support could be made so that if there's no dbus daemon running, it simply is disabled. The basic libdbus API is kinda convoluted and it requires a bit of glue code to make it work with an external IO loop, but it's doable and it shouldn't interfere much with the rest of mpv.
