The easiest way to create a bot is by using one of the official SDK's like Windows Live Agents. If you use an official SDK, you don't have to worry about the details of the Messenger protocol and authentication.

Oct 04, 2011 · Just had a look and my connection details are similar and I can log in no probs. The main difference I can see is that mine is logging in via microsoft.net, (or rather the by1msg5146419.gateway.edge.messenger.live.com server), and yours is using hotmail.

According to MSNPiki, MSNP12 introduced the concept of "contact types" or "network IDs". These are hardcoded numbers. MSNP14? This one is copied from MSNPiki, which doesn't specify what version it applies to - I'm guessing it corresponds to MSNP14 due to the yahoo support:

A new "crazy patch writer" appeared and started to work on MSNP15 support. We eventually gave him write access to the central monotone repository at pidgin.im.

I've compiled Pidgin 2.3.0 with msnp14 support (enable_msnp14=yes). It works very good but when someone sends me an offline message it crashes. This is what happens: I start Pidgin I activate the hotmail account and connect. Right after connection is established some of the offline messages may be shown and then crashes.
