May 08, 2018 · Fedora 28 KDE not recognising MTP devices Yesterday, after nuking my windows installation while attempting to dual-boot, i had to install Fedora on my laptop. but my mobile does get recognised, but I can't enter nor watch any of the files within it.

If I switch the phone to USB mode, I can access the SD card, but the MTP portion is now broken, and not sure how to fix it. Tried to reinstall the gvfs-mtp package but no luck. I am having so many anomalies with F28, thinking about reverting back to F27 as an solution.

A bit of gooling indicated that fedora 20 included mtp support, so I bit the bullet and tried to install that on my machine (despite the recommended RAM also being 1G for this). Although it would best to stick with MTP for devices like the Nexus series. If google does want to hail to MTP I wish theyd include drivers or push something into the upstream linux kernel to support MTP on free desktops just like they do on OSX. Speaking of, how is it on OSX? I haven't gotten a chance to try it out.

Oct 16, 2015 · If the problem is only with newer versions of *buntu derived distros, perhaps try a Long Term Support (LTS) version of one of the *buntu's instead. - 14.04 is the current LTS release. Or perhaps try Debian. I'm currently using Kubuntu 14.04LTS. Connection to devices via MTP doesn't seem to be a problem at all for me.
