Jul 20, 2017 · From that I can assume that game dev's have managed to make use of each core, which would mean that 8-core game support should be here. Why does pc only still use 4 cores??? Is it the way games are made or that pc hasn't seen a mainstream cpu with more then 4 cores until this year that has stopped us getting that support?

It is entirely up to the developer as Maxpare79 has said, they actually have to go out of their way to add multi core support which they usually only utilize on consoles because their underpowered; to keep Pc's in the same plane as consoles and to save money most developers chose not to support it.

Apr 25, 2017 · Microsoft FSX is great a utilizing multiple cores. I regularly see 90-100% of all 4 cores being used. For Source engine games you need to type in the console "mat_queue_mode 2". This will enable the engine's true multi core support. I regularly see about 70-80% of all 4 cores being used. It also gives about a 20-30fps increase.

Jul 20, 2012 · Although there might be some niggles (not related to multi-core processors) to work out at first; check the sticky thread for a lot of common fixes. The game DOES have issues with multiple GPUs, though, so if you are running SLI or Crossfire, or if you have a card that has two GPUs on it, you might have some problems.
