Many newer chipsets support the Advanced Host Controller Interface (AHCI), which allows operating systems to universally control them and enable NCQ. I would like to reproduce this scenario on my Linux PC, but the Linux AHCI driver has NCQ enabled by default. I need to disable NCQ, so I found this website describing how to disable NCQ, but it doesn't work. The Linux PC still reaches 190 MiB/s write performance.

NCQ support added in later chipsets. Looks like a PATA controller, but with full SATA control including hotplug and PM. Update: NVIDIA has provided information (under NDA) that permits implementation of NCQ support, and a sample Linux implementation (patch) as well.

guarantee NCQ support (the adapter flags it in its host capability flags), so I don't know if the newer VIA will get you NCQ support. AHCI has two main benefits: support for hot pluggable SATA drives (mimicking USB drives' behavior) and Native Command Queuing (NCQ). It has been present in the Linux kernel since version 2.6.19 and will be loaded automatically in current Arch kernel.
