Dec 28, 2005 · Re: 410.16 - Means of Support The NEC is a permissive document -this has been stated many times before, so it is not so much of a surprise. 410.16(C) does not say "shall be", "shall be required" or any other mandatory language, it uses language of the sense that if the ceiling grid is used, one will need to follow the requirements of (C).

Nov 05, 2007 · NEC requires fixtures to be 'attached' to the grid, by mechanical means; screws, clips, rivets, etc. in most cases. This is the 'basic' NEC requirement...this is what an Electrical Inspector can enforce, but.... Ind. support is required in seismic areas. Ind. support MAY be required by plans/specs.

May 25, 2004 · Answer: NEC 410.16(C) requires the suspended ceiling to be securely attached to the building structure. It also requires that the framing members of suspended ceiling systems used to support luminaires (fixtures) to be securely fastened to each other and it requires the luminaires (fixtures) to be securely fastened to the ceiling framing member.
