Feb 18, 2013 · Flexbox is pretty awesome and is certainly part of the future of layout. The syntax has changed quite a bit over the past few years, hence the "Old" and "New" syntax. But if we weave together the old, new, and in-between syntaxes, we can get decent browser support.

Flexbox is just a new value of the display property, making it very useful if we want the former inline or inline-block elements to stack on top of each other. If a browser does not support flexbox, the elements will simply stack on top of each other the same way they do in mobile device browsers.

Well only old browsers like IE10 and older do not support flex as it is now. Chrome, Safari, Firefox, IE11 and Edge support it. Many company give up on maintaining compatibility with such old browsers. In my humble opinion, the flexbox layout is the future. Vertical positioning (center for example), reversing, index offset.

IE9-, unfortunately, doesn't support Flexbox at all. IE10 supports the 2011 version. Opera 12.1+ supports the latest 2012 version unprefixed. It will also be supported by Chrome 30+ and IE11+. Firefox 22 already supports it, too, but only partially — it doesn't support flex-wrap property and flex-flow shorthand.
