Solved: I can't seem to find any information on the Nexus 5000 support of netflow. I assume that means it doesn't do netflow, but I just wanted to see if anyone could confirm one way or another. Thanks, Joe

Dec 03, 2010 · The removal of the feature netflow command also removes all relevant NetFlow configuration information. NetFlow consumes hardware resources such as TCAM and CPU. Therefore, understanding the resource utilization on a device is important before you enable NetFlow. Sampling mode preserves CPU and NetFlow cache entries in high-traffic environments.

The Nexus 3000 series are the first Cisco switches based on merchant silicon, which includes hardware support for sFlow, offering scalable, wire-speed, monitoring of all traffic flowing throughout entire networks of Nexus 3000 series switches.

Today I’d like to take a look at the founders of the NetFlow protocol, Cisco, and their Nexus 9k configuration. Similar to blogs in the past, it’s worth mentioning the Nexus 9000 supports sFlow. SFlow has its pros and cons. Some people prefer it because it relieves some of the burden NetFlow exports can have on the device.

Nov 30, 2015 · It’s really too bad however that NetFlow support on the NX-OS based platforms either doesn’t exist or is very limited. Nexus 5000 and Nexus 9000 don’t support NetFlow. (Nexus 9000 supports sFlow, i.e. sampled flow, detailed below, which I think is not very useful). Nexus 7000 supports NetFlow with a LOT of caveats.
