There is a command to shutdown lightdm [systemctl disable lightdm.service]. When I did that I could no longer run SDL 2.0. Once I left it alone then SDL worked fine. It has something to do with the windowing of SDL. I am not sure what happens if you use full screen. – Rujio Mar 16 '17 at 13:47

Minecraft needs OpenGL support to run and the Microsoft drivers will not provide OpenGL. Only Basic driver support. I have 4 of these computers with Core 2 Quads @ 2.53 Ghz and 3 with Pentium D's @ 3.4 Ghz and I really do not want to rebuild them all to Windows 7. But as I see it Intel is the only one that can build a new driver for OpenGL.

Feb 24, 2017 · Microsoft seem to be trying to pass this off as a driver problem, but the evidence suggests otherwise. The driver works fine on Windows 7 and 8.x with Minecraft and other applications, but stops working on Windows 10. Other applications, such as Stellarium, report no OpenGL 2 support with this driver under Windows 10.
